Sister School Programme
Visit to Beijing No 80 High School-China

The above programme was inaugurated in 2007 with the collaboration of the association for Sri Lanka China social and cultural cooperation to commemorate the 50th anniversary of China Sri-Lanka Diplomatic relations. The Programme affiliates our school to Beijing No 80 High School Wangjing Science and Technology District, through the embassy of the Democratic Social Republic of Sri Lanka and the Ministry of Foreign affairs in Colombo.
Under the programme, students are organized to participate in volunteer activities, promote cross- cultural relationships and understanding, learn the national history and mutual understanding of the languages and improve the ability to speak English and Mandarin.
A team of three Teachers and six Students paid a visit to China during the period of 29th March 2008 to April 6th 2008.
Our team to China attended School courses and exchanged opinions mutually,
- A Sri Lankan Cultural Day was organized by the students of both schools.
- Our members attended English and Chemistry lessons of grade 10 class and visited the science laboratories and the computer labs.
- We had the opportunity to see Chinese Acrobatics and Kung Fu demonstrations which is an art of self defense.
- Visited china’s Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Wang Fujing Street, Beijing University and the summer palace.
- Our team got the opportunity to see how Beijing city is getting ready for their historical big event of Olympic Games 2008, sight scenes of the huge stadium, swimming pool and the main office building.
A Chinese team of students and teachers are expected to visit our school in October/November 2008.
During their visit we will be conducting programmes with cultural values, our educational systems, language etc; sight scenes of places with historical and religious values, and fauna and flora of Sri Lanka.
